Special Systems Support or Traditional Architectural and Engineering

ITC supported the owner and its design team in ascertaining requirements, estimating budgets in IT, bidding, building and commissioning the projects.  Projects were done to build to, add to or remodel a facility have only dominant activities highlighted to maintain a concise, overview format. All projects were done in conjunction with design teams and general supported program development and budgeting in design, bid and construction award using CSI formatted construction documents.  We use the team design development to indicate in the text schematic though Bid Support (SD, DD, CD) of a health care project.

Bartholomew Hospital, Indiana:  Design development of fiber optic backbone, premises distribution system additions (PDS), networks and LAN related issues for medical diagnostics systems on a retrofit construction project.

Catherine McCauley Health Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan:  Design development of medical campus outside and underground plant linking multiple buildings with PDS cabling systems and networks with associated transmission electronics.

Delnor Hospital, Illinois:  PDS and technical infrastructures design development through construction documents, bid and contractor selection for new 200 bed hospital, Medical Office Building and campus construction for all communication systems including ER, OR, and specialty lab environments.

Duluth Clinic, Minnesota:  Quality review and redesign of systems requirements and documentation relating to proprietary LANs, data systems, medical imaging, low voltage grounding and cold weather site related infrastructure and PDS installation practices.  Chronic recurring issues affecting reliability concerns related to grounding issues were resolved, with successful remediation recommendations implemented.

Edwards Hospital, Illinois:  Design development and specifications support, cabling and fiber optics installation consultation and Quality Control support.

Evangelical Health System, (later, Advocate Health Care) Christ Hospital, Illinois:  Design development of premise distribution systems cabling to support PBX, nurse call, computer network, medical record keeping, x-ray, MRI, telemetry and other diagnostic systems.  Coordinated 4th tier support with Bell Labs for a field study on the analysis of EMI susceptible environments and cable communications construction placement Quality Control review relating to this study. As Advocate Heath Care: Work with this health care systems’ Clinical Engineering Manager (formerly the CE Manager for Northwestern Memorial Hospital) of this newly formed 10 hospital group, on wireless CE site safety and medical frequency use, initial planning on the PACs systems implementation issues and voice recognition dictation for the Radiology.

Greenville Hospital, North Carolina:  Design support of a replacement hospital for LAN and communications infrastructure related issues relating to cut over planning in the main facility and campus.

Methodist Hospital Campus, Indianapolis, Indiana:  Relocation strategy and design support of an in place 40,000 pair data equipment room and related building monitoring systems with continuous service to a new area and upgrade of cross connects including cable record system in support of MIS and Facilities Departments.

Riverside Hospital, Illinois:  Design development for remodeling and electrical upgrade project of new riser system and new fiber optic backbone.

Rush Presbyterian Health Care Centers, Illinois:  Cabling standards prototype for all 22 existing remote clinics to support a wide variety of dial-up imaging and remote diagnostics and telemedicine including records and radiology applications.

Walter Reed Army Hospital Complex, Washington, DC: Collaborative separate design and specifications related discussions on nurse call and wireless communications and patient safety issues for patient cardiac and other telemetry monitoring related issues with Clinical Engineering-Bio-Medical Department Chief.  Discussions and direct input to national hospital frequency safety standards issues on medical wireless with this CE team, who served as the US Federal Regulatory teams local technical resource (Concepts from these activities used with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Advocate Health Care and Middletown Projects).

University of Iowa Telemedicine Project       Support of Hospital Staff in ascertaining future direction and possible alternatives in conjunction with construction of the State Wide Iowa Communications Network. (Similar Technical support planning discussions work was done with the Informatics Department of UC Davis Medical Center in a planning and second opinion role for the Informatics and Radiology Department Sacramento based technical support team.
